Maranatha Accounting Competition for Charity (MACARONY) 2019

After going through an online selection that was held on Saturday, April 6 2019, representatives of the Universitas Airlangga team managed to qualify for the round of 18 who were selected to continue the main round to Maranatha Christian University, Bandung.

On the first day of May 2, 2019, 18 teams that had qualified for the main round came to register and attend the Technical Meeting which was opened with remarks from the Head of the Accounting Study Program at Maranatha University, Mrs. Dr. Dra. Ita Salsalina L., M.Si, Ak. 

The first qualifying round starts at 13.00 on that day. This qualifying round consists of 3 stages, namely find the words, match the mate, and collect your points, to determine the 9 best teams that will qualify for the semifinals. The Universitas Airlangga team managed to reach the top 3 positions in determining the best 9 teams that advanced to the semifinals. The other 8 teams were 3 teams from Trisakti School of Management, 2 teams from Tarumanagara University, 1 team from Semarang State University, 1 team from Parahyangan University, and the last one was a team from Sanata Dharma University.

The semifinals were held on the second day of the competition. In this round, 9 teams will be divided into 3 pools to compete for seats in the final round. Based on the draw, the Universitas Airlangga team had to compete against TSM 1 and TSM 3 in pool 3. The semifinals consisted of 3 stages, namely Time Crisis, What's Inside The Box, and Good Choice. Even though they had excelled at the What's Inside The Box stage, the Universitas Airlangga Team had not had the opportunity to advance to the final stage with a difference of 245 points with TSM 1.

In the end, the competition was won by Tarumanagara University Team 1, Team 1 TSM, Team 3 TSM, and Team Dalla Tarumanagara University. Even though they haven't won the championship yet, the University Team has learned a lot from the competition. Competing against 2 TSM teams in the semifinals provided an extraordinary experience for the Universitas Airlangga Team. Furthermore, the Universitas Airlangga Team is committed to being superior in the next competitions and hopes that the guidance and training of the competition can be carried out more intensively than before.

Hopefully this valuable experience can also motivate the Universitas Airlangga team to keep fighting and working
