SP2020: "Urgency and Its Role in Public Policy Formulation in Indonesia".
Master of Economics Study Program under Study Program Coordinator - Dr. Wisnu Wibowo, held a very interesting Public Lecture this morning, Wednesday, March 2, 4 at Fadjarnotonagoro Hall, 2020nd Floor, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, which was delivered directly by Dr. Wisnu Wibowo. Adi Lumaksono, MA (Main Secretary of the Central Statistics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia) with the theme SP2: "Urgency and Its Role in Public Policy Formulation in Indonesia".

Beginning his description of the background to the urgency of data in formulating important policies in Indonesia, Wahyu Wisnu Wibowo. SE., MSc., as moderator, invited all present to recall the three economists from the United States who have won the 2019 Nobel Economics award for their new approach to reducing global poverty, including new approaches in education and health services. The 3 people are Esther Duflo; Abhijit Banerjee; and Michael Kremer where they persistently voiced their concern in promoting evidence-based policy, or how every policy is always based on evidence, where evidence in a broad sense can be interpreted as a study or research result, and within the scope simple, can be interpreted as evidence (evidence) or data and of course is good data or accurate data. Thus, it indicates that good data, the results of the study, are an important component in the formulation of public policy in Indonesia.
And to obtain accurate data, a Public Lecture was held which was also an effort from the Central Statistics Agency to socialize the importance of the success of the "2020 Population Census" Program, in order to obtain accurate data and information.
In his presentation, Dr. Adi Lumaksono, MA (Main Secretary of the Central Statistics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia), explained that "Successful development must be based on accurate and accountable data and information" and the target of development is the population. For this reason, Adi Lumaksono, invites all elements of society to play an active role in the success of the 2020 Population Census.

"The key to the success of this Population Census is strongly influenced by the level of community participation", because population data is the upstream of efforts to increase human capital and productivity where it all ends with the population. Adi Lumaksono emphasized that "How can the government prepare food for the population for the next 45 years , how the agricultural program can produce, how the class program is needed to educate our human resources; how many jobs are needed to accommodate the demographic bonus, if we don't have population data, it will be impossible for us to plan”.
Furthermore, Adi Lumaksono stated, it is very important that: 1) Control of Occupation & Population Governance; 2) Strengthening the Implementation of Social Protection; 3) Improved Access and Quality of Health Services; 4) Equitable Quality Education Services; 5) Improving the Quality of Children, Women and Youth; 6) Poverty Alleviation; 7) Increased Productivity and Competitiveness.
Apart from that, Adi Lumaksono also explained the objectives of the 2020 Population Census, namely 1) Providing data on the number, composition, distribution, and characteristics of the Indonesian population towards ONE INDONESIAN POPULATION DATA (de facto/usual residence and de jure); 2) Provide demographic parameters and population projections (fertility, mortality, and migration) as well as other population characteristics for the purposes of population projections and SDGs indicators.

For this reason, the main key to the success of the 2020 Population Census is the participation of all elements of the nation.
