KPPU RI FEB UNAIR 17 May 2019

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga through the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) received a visit from the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) of the Republic of Indonesia. The visit, which was led directly by the Chairperson of KPPU Kurnia Toha, was directly accepted by UNAIR Chancellor Prof. Nasih with the leadership in the rector's room on Friday (17/5).

During the visit, the head of KPPU, who was also accompanied by several staff, explained the various objectives of the visit. One of them is regarding the MoU that will be carried out with FEB UNAIR. Kurnia as she is familiarly known, said that so far the performance of KPPU still needs a lot of improvement. Especially in the institutional and functional branding of KPPU's performance as an independent institution.

“Many people think that we are part of the KPU, but we are very different. For that, we need to cooperate with universities so that the role and function of KPPU can be known by the public," he said.

Regarding cooperation that is focused on the economy, the FH UI graduate explained that the institution he leads will add a Directorate of Economics. This, he explained, is considering the important role of experts engaged in economic studies to improve the quality of performance within the KPPU.

"For this reason, we collaborate with FEB so that they can provide input and direction as well as research results to us," he said.

Not only that, continued Kurnia, the role of academics from the economic field is expected to be able to provide many improvements to the institutional performance of KPPU. Especially in providing the best input, direction, and even advice for the performance of institutions and also the government.

“There are many problems at KPPU that are related to issues in the economic world, for that we need research assistance from university academics. And I hope that in the future there will be a comprehensive study to solve every problem,” he explained.

At the end, Kurnia again emphasized that in the future cooperation with FEB UNAIR can also be implemented in the form of discussions, seminars, or compiling books. From the cooperation that has been established, Kurnia emphasized that all of this was done in the public interest.

"The inputs and opinions that we give to the government are none other than our efforts to become a way to provide benefits to the public," he concluded.
