UNAIR Strengthens Micro Business through Certification Education, Business Ethics, and Digital Technology

( FEB News - SDG's News) Universitas Airlangga (Airlangga University) through the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) reiterated its commitment to community empowerment through the International Community Service as part of the series of The 9th International Conference and Ph.D. Colloquium for Economics and Business (ICEB 2025) . This community service activity was carried out on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Surabaya, and was attended by micro businesses from various regions of East Java.

This program presents five speakers from various national and international institutions that have expertise in the field of micro entrepreneurs, business certification, business ethics, and digital transformation, namely:

  • Dr. Lailan Tawila Belampu, SE, M.Sc. (Riau University), which brings material on the urgency of micro business certification as a guarantee of quality and consumer confidence.
  • Prof. Dr. Gancar Candra Peramananto (Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga), which explained the importance of the application of ethics in micro business as a basis for sustainable business development. "All prophets are also entrepreneurs," he said, reminding that branding is the key to building consumer trust.
  • Lilik Rohmawati, SE, M.Sc. (Diponegoro University), which invites businesses to use digital platforms such as Tokopedia, Shopee, Instagram, and Facebook to increase market reach.
  • Dr. Luh Gde Meydianawathi, SE, M.Sc. (Udayana University), which conveyed the MSME adaptation strategy to digitalization to increase business resilience and growth.
  • Dr. Vasilios Stouraitis (Glasgow Caledonian University, United Kingdom), which complements sessions with insights about the importance of building a solid team in the process of digital MSME transformation. "Digitalization is not only a matter of software or application, but also builds human resources that are ready to adapt," he said

This activity aims to equip MSMEs with practical and strategic understanding in order to be able to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of their business. Materials such as certification, ethics in branding, to the use of digital technology are delivered in the form of interactive discussions that are easily understood and directly applicable for participants. This program is not only educative, but also a bridge between academics and business actors in responding to the challenges of the business world collaboratively.

This activity was carried out hybrid, as an integral part of the second day of ICEB 2025 which took place at Campus B FEB Unair.

International Community Service activity reflects the active role of FEB UNAIR in supporting the economic development of the community and strengthening the capacity of micro business actors through a cross -country scientific and collaboration -based approach. This initiative is in line with the principles of sustainable development, especially in improving the quality of education, empowerment of local economy, and global partnerships. This effort also strengthened the contribution of institutions in bridging academic and social and presents a measurable and sustainable positive impact for the community.
