While pursuing a double degree , I chose the topic of my thesis “Internet of Things (IoT)” which aims to offer practical advice to a company on how to innovate and improve business operations or business models using IoT. I am interested in focusing on the application of digital twin technology in one of the companies in Indonesia, considering that there are still few companies in Indonesia that have implemented this technology, even though there are many choices of Digital Twin providers available. Therefore, my thesis aims to provide insight into digital twin options (information about options, process implementation, benefits, and challenges) to one of the manufacturing company divisions in Indonesia, namely the factory service division of PT. Pupuk Kaltim. So that later the company division can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its manufacturing process.
Thesis writing there takes six months or three quarters, consisting of three assessment stages: the introduction, the overall thesis, and the defense. During this process, students receive guidance from two supervisors and one company coach. I had the opportunity to hold my defense exam online via Zoom in student housing due to COVID-19. The Head of the Accounting Study Program, Mr. Iman Harymawan, Ph.D., representing UNAIR, was also present as an examiner. After the defense, I took the opportunity to take a selfie with my Indonesian friends from other universities who had the same defense schedule that day.
After completing all the required credits, I was confirmed as an alumnus of SAXION University's International Finance and Accounting Program (IFAS-SDP) on July 15, 2020. The graduation ceremony was held offline on campus with a red-carpet concept (usually celebrated with a garden party at a restaurant) but still implemented health protocols. My parents couldn't be there due to limitations during the pandemic, but I was grateful to still be able to celebrate this happy moment with fellow students from Indonesia.
Upon returning from my studies in the Netherlands, I plan to graduate from UNAIR in December 2020. At UNAIR, I have completed the requirements for graduation as an accounting student: 144 credits, including a thesis, completed during the double degree program, with a GPA of 3.74. I am grateful to FEB UNAIR for providing the opportunity, facilities, and guidance to its students to participate in international programs, including this double degree program. (obm)
