(FEB NEWS) Surabaya, Monday 22 September 2025 – The Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga, held a Guest Lecture titled “Doing Research on Economic Growth: From Problems to Solution/Policies” on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Miendrowo Hall, 4th Floor of the Main Building, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Prof. Rossanto Dwi Handoyo, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Head of the Economics Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga.

The lecture was delivered by Prof. J.C. Maswana, Professor of Economics at Ritsumeikan University, Japan, and moderated by Dr. Miguel Angel Esquivias Padilla, M.S.E. The session was attended by students and faculty members of FEB Universitas Airlangga.

In his presentation, Prof. Maswana introduced comprehensive methodologies for conducting research on economic growth, ranging from identifying core problems to formulating effective policy solutions. He emphasized approaches in data analysis, theoretical framing, and policy evaluation within the field of growth economics. Dr. Miguel Angel Esquivias Padilla enriched the discussion by sharing complementary perspectives and practical research examples, particularly with relevance to the Indonesian economic context.

The guest lecture highlighted the importance of rigorous research methodology in designing evidence-based economic policies. For participants, the session offered valuable insights that deepened their understanding of economic growth studies and their application in policy formulation.
