15th Economic Olympiad

The 15th Economic Olympiad is a national economic olympiad event for high school students and equivalent organized by the Development Economics Student Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga. This olympiad event, which has been running for 14 years, aims to test the competence and knowledge of students while introducing the Development Economics major among students.
This year, the 15th Economic Olympiad carries the theme "Digital Economic for Developing Country". This theme was chosen inseparably from seeing the very rapid development of digital technology and will continue to develop over time so that it can affect the economic system in Indonesia. The 15th Economic Olympiad consists of various series of events, namely:
Preliminary round: September 16, 2018 which took place in each region.
Semifinal round:
The semifinal round of the 2018 Economic Olympiad activities on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 07.00 WIB - finished at the Fadjar Notonegoro Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga Surabaya. Teams that qualify for the regional preliminary round will participate in the semifinal round which consists of several stages as follows:
– ECONOMIC MULTIPLE CHOICE
Each team gets 75 multiple choice questions which are a development of the preliminary questions within 60 minutes.
– ECONOMIC SCRABBLE
Each team gets a crossword puzzle consisting of 50 questions to work on for 60 minutes.
– ECONOMIC SMART
In this round each team will answer 5 questions on Economic Mathematics, Cooperative Economics and Accounting, in the form of descriptions on the answer sheet provided by the committee with a working duration of 60 minutes.
Final and grand final rounds:

The final round of the 2018 Economic Olympiad will take place on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga Surabaya, from 7:30 a.m. WIB until finished. Qualifying teams will proceed to the following stages:

– RALLY GAMES
The ten teams that qualified for the final preliminary round were designed in the form of 90-minute Rally Games, which are post-to-post games held outdoors or indoors, but still within the Faculty of Economics and Business area. In the Rally Games, there are 5 game stations, each of which will be filled by 2 teams. Each team will pass through each post with a different opposing team. The five teams with the highest scores will advance to the Grand Final preliminary round.

The Grand Final will feature the five teams that qualified for the previous finals. It consists of the following stages:

1. CLUE COMPETITION

The first stage is the clue competition. In this stage, each team will be asked several short questions and must guess the correct answers. The cumulative time allotted for this stage is 45 minutes.

2. SPEED COMPETITION

The next stage in the grand final round is the speed competition, which is a stage of speed competition using a tool in the form of a bell button, so that the light that comes on first has the right to answer the questions given. The total duration at this stage is 45 minutes.
3. ECONOMIC CONTENT
At this stage, each team that qualifies for the semifinal stage must create a wall magazine containing topics related to the digital economy and collected at the semifinal stage in Surabaya.
4. ECONOMIC CONTENT PRESENTATION
At this final stage, each team will present the wall magazine that the team has previously created at the Economic Content stage, then a question and answer session will be conducted by the jury.
