(FEB NEWS) Today, on May 27, 2024, the Fadjar Notonegoro Hall witnessed the success of the Intellectual Casual Talk Volume 1 with the interesting topic "Navigating the World of Online Loans: Solution or Trap". This event, organized by the Department of Strategic Studies and Action of BEM FEB UNAIR, aims to broaden students' insights into the world of finance and fintech which has not been widely promoted. Online loans have a major impact on various aspects of Indonesian society and the economy, so this kind of education is very necessary, especially for students. We are very proud to present three speakers with diverse perspectives: Mr. Indrawan Nugroho Utomo, Head of the Capital Market Supervision Division of the East Java OJK, who discussed the regulatory and supervisory aspects of online loans; Dr. Wisudanto, Head of Social Fund Management Universitas Airlangga, who provided perspectives from the side of fund management and social implications; and Ms. Ratna Azis, Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, FISIP UNAIR, who explored the social and cultural impacts of the online loan phenomenon.

Participants showed high enthusiasm, evident by the large number of seats filled in the Fadjar Notonegoro Hall. This event was unique because it featured a panel discussion theme, where participants could directly discuss and ask questions to the speakers. The involvement of student executive boards (BEM) from other faculties, such as BEM FTMM, BEM FISIP, BEM PSI, and others, was crucial to enriching the discussion and enriching perspectives. Furthermore, the upcoming Intellectual Casual Chat will feature a hot topic among the community and students. Real-life challenges faced by students, such as being tied to online loans due to difficulties paying tuition fees and personal expenses, demonstrate the importance of a better understanding of online loans.
